Laugh of the Day

I often get to hear some pretty funny things from my 1st graders. Here's a sample one of the writings today...

"Mmm there was fresh fish sticks in the oven. I love when my mom makes fresh fish sticks and creamed corn."

We've been working on adjectives and details, I like the use of the word "fresh", but it usually doesn't apply to my fish sticks:-)

Unhappy Easter:-(

So the diagnosis for Aaron is bronchiolitis. His is a textbook case...started as a cold, mucus, coughing, mild fever, and then over a few days the coughing and breathing gets worse.
Luckily the time spent in the emergency area of the hospital wasn't too long. We finally had to go in today because his wheezing got worse overnight. Hopefully a little steroids will help the breathing. We're thankful all is going to be okay!

Am I boring?

So I have an issue with the toys I have looked at to purchase for the little man. Why is it that everything made these days makes noise and lights up? As a teacher, I feel this is a large problem with this generation of kids! My students come into class and expect to be entertained. They aren't used to using their imaginations and have a hard time doing so when asked. I guess my goal with Aaron is to help nourish his imagination. I want him to be able to look at a large box (like I did as a child) and imagine the possiblities... a castle, fortress, cave etc. Am I alone in this?

The story of us (Part 1)...

My husband and I met while going to university. He was in a fraternity and I was in a sorority. We had many mutual friends and our two best friends were dating each other. One crazy night of fraternity partying we both ended up drunk and decided that making out was the best decision for us. The only problem is that their fraternity house was currently under construction in some areas. That didn't stop us! We got down to business not realizing that we had somehow rolled into a tray of paint. Needless to say I ended up with white handprints on my butt and he ruined his favorite sweater. I was so embarassed. I hightailed it out of there (after we were kicked out by his president) and went home with my girlfriend to do my own walk of shame in the morning. After that night, we didn't really talk about it again. I found out much later that he actually tried to visit me at work (because he did like me), but he ended up driving around not really knowing which specific restaurant I worked at. Romantic huh? :-) Part one took place 13 years ago and there much more to our story. I will continue with Part 2 soon:-)

Happy Sunday!

I got to start the day with a bowl of oatmeal, a cup of coffee and the biggest poopy diaper I have ever seen. I guess that's what I get for starting Aaron on prunes yesterday. Fun for me!
